Kayla Long was born on November 17, 2000. She trains at Gymnastics Center of Hershey in Pennsylvania. She will graduate from high school in 2019. She is willing to take a gap year and train in order to go to school as part of a collegiate gymnastics team.

Kayla began competing as a level four in 2009. She moved up to level five in 2010. She placed in the top ten at the State Championships. In 2011, she won the all-around at the State Championships. As a level six in 2012, Kayla finished third on bars and sixth all-around at the State Championships. She finished first on beam, second on floor and second all-around at the State Championships in 2013. Competing the new level six in 2014, Kayla finished sixth all-around at the State Championship. Kayla competed level seven in 2015. She finished first all-around at the State Championship. She represented Team Pennsylvania at the 2016 National Judge Cup where he placed first on beam and fourth all-around. Kayla competed level eight for most of the 2016 season. She finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. She finished seventh all-around at Regionals.

Kayla moved up to level nine during the 2016-2017 season. She won floor at the Tim Weaver Battlefield Invitational. She won beam and floor at both the Christmas on the Chesapeake and Silvia Mitova Invitational. She won beam at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the Hug & Kiss meet, she won floor and the all-around. Kayla won floor at the Pink Invitational. She placed second on floor at the State Championships. She finished first on floor and fifth all-around at Regionals. Kayla finished twelfth all-around at Easterns.

During the 2017-2018 season, Kayla won beam at the Tim Weaver Battlefield Invitational. She won bar and the all-around at the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Dave Mokowvitz Invitational. She finished first on beam and second all-around at the Texas Prime meet. At the Hug & Kiss meet, she won beam and the all-around. Kayla won the all-around at the Pink Invitational. She placed second on vault, third on beam, second on floor and first all-around at the State Championships. She finished second on beam and twelfth all-around at Regionals.
