Carmela Keuneke, also known as CJ, was born on April 10, 2006. She trains at Active Athletics in Colorado. She will graduate from high school in 2024.

In the fall of 2013, CJ competed level three. She moved up to level five in 2014. She placed third on vault at the State Championships. In 2015, she placed third on beam and the all-around with a 38.0 at the State Championships. She immediately moved up to level seven in 2016. She finished first on floor and second all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. She finished first on floor and the all-around at the Denver Winterfest meet. She placed third on vault, second on floor and fifth all-around with a 38.225 at the State Championships. She concluded her season at Regionals.

CJ competed level eight in 2017. She won vault and the all-around at the Brestyans Las Vegas meet. She finished first on vault, beam and the all-around at the Denver Winterfest meet. She placed first on vault, third on beam and second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on vault and was the floor champion. CJ competed level nine in 2018. She won vault, beam and the all-around at the Coloradical Classic. She won floor at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She won vault and floor at the Pieks Peak Cup. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Denver Winterfest. She won vault at the Colorado Sky Invitational and floor at the March Madness meet. At the State Championships, she finished first on vault, second on beam, first on floor and second all-around. CJ finished first on beam, first on floor and second on vault and the all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed third on vault, first on beam, second on floor and third all-around. Following Westerns, CJ made her elite debut at the Brestyan's Elite qualifier. She placed second on bars and first on vault, beam, floor and the all-around. She finished second on vault, beam, floor and the all-around in the optional portion. At the Hopes Classic, she won floor. She finished ninth all-around, qualifying for the Hopes Championships. At the Hopes Championships, she finished first on vault, ninth on bars, ninth on beam, ninth on floor and fifth all-around.

CJ made her level ten debut in 2019. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the Coloradical Classic. She placed first on floor and third all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She won floor and the all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup to qualify for the Nastia Liukin Cup. She won floor and the all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. Carmela finished first on vault at the Greensboro Invitational. She won vault at the State Championships. She placed third on beam, second on floor and second all-around at Regionals. She competed on three events at JO Nationals. During the shortened 2020 season, CJ earned her junior international elite compulsory score at the Coloradical Classic. She placed first on beam and third all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invite. She finished first on beam and second all-around at the Denver Winterfest. She placed first on floor and second all-around at the Elevate the Stage meet.

In 2021, she placed third all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. She won floor at the all-around at the Charity Choice meet. She finished fourth all-around at the Nastia Liukin Cup. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She finished first on beam and second all-around at Regionals. She placed second on beam and sixth all-around at JO Nationals. In 2022, she won bars, floor and the all-around at the Atlanta Centennial Classic and Pikes Peak Cup. She competed at the Nastia Liukin Cup. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. She finished first on floor at Regionals. She placed sixth on beam at JO Nationals. In 2023, she placed second all-around at the Denver Winterfest and Brestyan's Las Vegas meet. She won beam at the Charity Choice. At the Valley of the Sun Challenge, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around. She finished first on floor and fourth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals CJ won beam, floor and the all-around. She finished fourth on floor and 19th all-around at JO Nationals.
